Storyline

Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, is an icon of children's television, a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America's impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him - who also anchors a multimillion-dollar branding empire. But when this beloved personality's family - wife, two sons, sister and father - begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairy tale or fable or puppet will guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: a kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking. Written by Showtime

Trivia

Ben Travers at IndieWire reviewed the first four episodes of the show, and called it an alt-reality In Living Color: Mr. Rogers (1993), and that although the fixation on death is "uncomfortable, [...] it shows signs of a lighter, broader scope and is buoyed by unrelenting optimism." He praised the story for treating Jeff's sincerity with genuine respect, and Jim Carrey for his "terrific" and "nuanced" performance. See more »

A balanced show
4 October 2018 | by pourdamghaniSee all my reviews

Please don't judge it by just watching its first episodes; it will become better gradually. Fortunately, it is a balanced show, even though you can say from the cover that Jim Carrey is bold. The storyline is well written and not flat and boring. The director (brightly) overuses colors and lights to change the mood of scenes, to mimic children shows, a format in which Kidding try to present bitter truths.
