  • Two characters kiss. The man has his shirt off. Later they are seen in bed in a state of undress, presumably after sex. A character soon after asks them what they were doing in bed and attempts to remove their blankets, revealing that the woman is dressed in pants and a semi-revealing shirt with a coat on top.
  • Pubic hair of a woman briefly shown.

  • Matt tries to protect her, decking the main aggressor, a guy named Pete.
  • From there, things spiral quickly into brutal, sexualized violence.
  • Matt's beaten savagely and knocked out.
  • Pete yanks Natalie from bed and hits her.
  • An ensuing rape scene includes explicit motions and reveals some of her exposed body (mostly her backside).

  • Cory eventually finds her frozen body.
  • We later hear a detailed coroner's report about how she died (frozen lungs).
  • Scenes in the morgue very briefly picture her corpse (including some pubic hair).

  • The woman is cutting her arms and wrists repeatedly with a razor as she cries, and her arm is covered with cuts and blood; Jane is stunned and closes the door.
  • Later, Martin is on the verge of committing suicide (he calls his painted visage his "death face") when his son, Chip, calls and he decides not to go through with it.
  • He's still sitting outside with a gun when Cory comes to the house.
  • Cory finds Natalie's frozen bloodied corpse (which we see) and that of her boyfriend, Matt (which we don't really see.).

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • It is implied that a woman is raped at least two times.
  • A scene of a dead man (on his stomach) in the nude, showing his butt. There is a bird on top of him and the bird bites off a piece of the man's butt skin, eating it, then the bird flies away.

Violence & Gore

  • A older Indian woman is seen cutting her arm with a knive as sort of a ritual.
  • The film is about the murder of a young woman.
  • A man dies due to blood filling his lungs.
  • When Pete awakens, Corey essentially condemns him to death: "I'm going to give you the same chance (Natalie) had." Natalie, we've already heard, walked six miles, barefoot, through the snow after being raped before she succumbed to the elements. "You?" Cory asks, "You may make it 600 feet. ... I want you to run." And so Pete does, soon collapsing and dying in the frigid cold as Cory watches.

Profanity

  • There is little to no swearing for the majority of the film, up until the last 1/4 of the movie. There is one seen towards the end, where a gang meet at a trailer home with the police, and an argument breaks out over who lives at the trailer home, and the swearing in that scene is extremely noticeable and coarse. Up to that scene, it is quite clean.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Several men have been drinking alcohol and one of those drunk men, rapes a Indian woman. The other drunken men want to rape her too but the boyfriend (of the Indian woman) intervenes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The rape scene is likely to disturb most viewers
